Directing Mouse Pads Down A Chute With Air

A fabricator is building a machine that cuts mouse pads and screen prints the top surface. The problem is the mouse pads keep getting thinner which makes them more difficult to transfer from one operation to the next. At one station they were having difficulty getting the die cut sheet to flow down a chute because the weight of the mouse pad was not enough to overcome the friction. They mounted an Model 2012 12" (305mm) Standard Air Knife just above the leading edge of the chute. This provided a flat sheet of air that acted as an air bearing so the mouse pad glided down the chute with little or no friction. The pad maintained registry 100% of the time.
