Drying Strands Of Plastic Prior To Pelletizing
A plastic compounding company manufactures pellets for the plastic industry. When extruding the plastic strands they need to run through a water bath to cool the material before running it through a pelletizer. The problem was that the plastic would absorb moisture and be out of specification. Using a Model 110006 6" (152mm) Super Air Knife to de-water the strands as they exit the cooling tank removed the surface water. Since the strands are still a little warm, any residual humidity evaporated and was not absorbed by the plastic strands.
