Eliminating Blemishes on Vinyl Extrusion
Customer manufactures projection screens for video applications. They extrude a vinyl coating onto a paper sub-strate that has a special coating on the extruded side. The special coating allows for release of the vinyl in a de-lamination process. This is the basic process for generating the screen material. The customer has been having problems with static generation on paper supplied by a particular manufacturer. The static generation causes problems in that the charge attracts dust, dirt and other particles that cause “inclusions" in the PVC extrusion. The net result is a blemish in the final product that is unacceptable. Cleaning the web just prior to coating with a Model 112048 48" (1219mm) Super Ion Air Knife is allowing the customer to reduce the static charge on the material and totally eliminate the debris that caused the inclusions.
