Film Cooling

Customer specializes in technologies for digital audio, video and instrumentation. Their customer specializes in transferring old films to digital media. A lot of the older films are made of a highly flammable acetate plastic material that breaks down over time. There is an effort to transfer the content of these old films onto digital media which involves running the film through a high intensity light box to get maximum exposure. This light source can get very hot and cause the film to ignite. So, a Model 3202 Vortex Tube is used to keep the light source box cool to keep from destroying the film. The Vortex Tube is able to totally eliminate the danger of losing priceless films due to fire during the transfer process.
