Separating Skins From Onions

A food processor needed to separate onions from dead leaves and skins. Onions, skins, and dead leaves are mixed randomly as they come down a conveyor belt. Using an uneven air blow off they had to increase air pressure enough so that the "dead spots" were high enough in velocity to blow off the unwanted debris. This made the "hot spots" too strong and would blow away some of the onions. With a Model 110006SS 6" (152mm) Stainless Steel Super Air Knife they were able to adjust the air pressure just strong enough to blow off the unwanted debris because the Super Air Knives provided an even air flow. They saved compressed air, reduced sound levels, and did not lose good product.
