Super Air Amplifier Improves Plastic Flash Removal
A plastic systems engineer developed a blow molding line for plastic jugs with a handle on the neck and shoulder of the bottle. The bottles were 8" high and 4" wide made from polypropylene. The mold created a large piece of flash inside of the handle. The de-flashing operation had poor quality due to the high temperature of the material. The high temperature caused the flash to stretch and leave a rough surface on the handle. They needed to cool the flash a little bit more to improve the de-flashing process. An EXAIR Model 120022 2" (51mm) Super Air Amplifier provided the necessary air flow to cool the flash quickly before the de-flashing process. Once the material was cooled by the Super Air Amplifier, the material de-flashing process resulted in a good quality handle on the bottle.
