Supporting Sagging Web with Air

Company manufactures sandpaper. They dip a moving web over the surface of a glue pot then apply the abrasive grit. To ensure the proper amount of glue is applied, the treated web passes over a vision system. Sometimes the tension of the web drops and and allows it to droop. When this happens, it makes contact with the vision lens getting glue all over it. The customer wanted a non-contact support system to keep the web off the lens. They mounted a Model 110030 30" (762mm) Super Air Knife under and across the web just before it passes over the lens. The force of the air suspended the moving web above the lens preventing any contact taking place. This eliminated misreads, downtime, and damaged lenses.
