FAQ

  • What is the angle of the airflow from the Super Air Wipe?

The airflow impinges the product traveling through the Super Air Wipe at a 30° angle (60º included angle).

  • At what pressure should I operate the Super Air Wipe?

The maximum pressure of the Super Air Wipe is 250 PSIG. We recommend using the lowest pressure possible for the application. Always use a pressure regulator on the compressed air supply and increase pressure to the point where the application problem is solved.

  • How do I mount the Super Air Wipe?

The Super Air Wipe can be mounted in a variety of ways. The most common method is to use the compressed air pipe to support them. There are NPT female threads on each half into which the compressed air supply pipe can be threaded. Position the Super Air Wipe where you want and then strap the pipe into place.  Another way to mount the Super Air Wipe would be to utilize the 1/4-20 tapped holes on the bottom of the Super Air Wipe. There is about 3/8" depth of thread to use for a bracket fabricated by the customer to be bolted to the bottom of the Super Air Wipe.

  • What is the temperature range for the Super Air Wipe?

The maximum temperature limit for the Super Air Wipe with or without the high temperature hose attached is 800°F (427°C). Please contact an Application Engineer to discuss your specific requirements.

  • Is the Super Air Wipe available in materials other than aluminum?

Yes, the Super Air Wipe is available in stainless steel. For other materials, contact an Application Engineer to discuss your specific requirements.

  • What is the recommended gap to have between the product and the Air Wipe?

On larger Air Wipe models (2" and larger), it is recommended to maintain a gap of 1/2" (13mm) between the outside of the target material and the inside diameter of an air wipe. Smaller models can have lesser airflow gap to accommodate the secondary volume of air to be pulled in around the target to facilitate higher blowing force to remove the contaminants.

  • Can I put cold air from a Vortex Tube into the Super Air Wipe?

No, for proper operation, the Vortex Tube cold outlet should not be subjected to any restrictions that would produce backpressure in excess of 5 PSIG. A Super Air Wipe would restrict the flow of a Vortex Tube to the point where the backpressure is excessive and severely limit the cooling capacity of the Vortex Tube.

  • What is the angle the air exits the Air Wipe at?

The air exits the Air Wipe and Super Air Wipe at a 60° included angle. The airflow will impact the target material at a 30° wiping angle.
