  • What is the temperature range for the Super Air Wipe?

The maximum temperature limit for the Super Air Wipe with or without the high temperature hose attached is 800°F (427°C). Please contact an Application Engineer to discuss your specific requirements.

  • What does your Static Meter tell me?

Model 7905 Static Meter will indicate surface voltage and polarity up to ±20 kV at a spacing of one inch with an accuracy of 10% full scale. The Static Meter will help pinpoint the location of the static trouble spots in your application.

  • What is the temperature rating of Stay Set Hoses?

EXAIR Stay Set Hoses can be used in temperatures up to 158°F (70°C).

  • What is the difference between the Vortex Tube and other cold air products like the Cold Gun?

The Vortex Tube is the fundamental component inside all the applied EXAIR products that generate cold airflow. The Vortex Tube is available in 3 different sizes and produces a wide span of cooling capacities. All models shown in the catalog have an adjustable valve at the hot end that can change the proportions of hot and cold airflow to their respective ends. On special order, this valve can be replaced with a preset orifice that will provide a pre-determined amount of temperature drop/rise. The Vortex Tube also contains a series of inserts called “generators” that offer a wide range of flow rates for each Vortex Tube size. These generators size the flow to the application.

Most of the applied products (Cabinet Cooler, Cold Gun, Mini Cooler and Component Cooler) have a fixed total flow capacity that is ideal for that product. The valve has been replaced with a preset orifice that allows the Vortex Tube to deliver the highest cooling capacity available. The exception is the Adjustable Spot Cooler, where the temperature is adjustable and flow rates can be changed by using the interchangeable generators. All of these cold air products include other features that make them easy to mount and keep the noise level low.

  • How do I set the gap on the Adjustable Air Amplifiers?

To change the gap, loosen the lock ring and back out or tighten the inner sleeve until the desired gap opening is reached. The gap can be set with shim stock to help in obtaining a more accurate setting. After setting the gap opening to the desired dimension, tighten the lock ring to hold it in place. Remove the shim stock from the gap (if shim stock is used).

The Adjustable Air Amplifiers receive their stock flow setting at the factory with the use of a flow meter.

  • We have some dead spots on our air knife. What should we do?

The flow characteristics of the Air Knife (Super or Standard) have been tested before it was shipped. We suggest that you follow the disassembly instructions and inspect the Air Knife for dirt contamination.  Cleaning instructions can be found on the installation and maintenance sheet shipped with the Air Knife or in Adobe Reader PDF format on our web site. A second possibility is that the Air Knife has been undersupplied. Do not use restrictive fittings, undersized line or filters that may not allow enough airflow into the plenum chamber of the Air Knife.  Air Knives that are 18" or longer must be supplied at two compressed air inlets at opposite ends of the Air Knife. A third possibility is that the screws may have been over tightened during mounting or during reassembly. Screws should be tightened snugly (7.5 ft/lbs).

  • What is the Btu/Hr range of your Cabinet Coolers?

EXAIR Cabinet Cooler Systems are available with cooling capacities from 275 Btu/hr to 5,600 Btu/hr. Multiple Systems or additional Cabinet Cooler units are occasionally specified for even higher heat load requirements. Contact an Application Engineer for more information.

  • Can I test your products?

Yes, every U.S. and Canadian customer who places an order can take advantage of the EXAIR Corporation Guarantee which states:

"EXAIR unconditionally guarantees its cataloged products for 30 days. If you are not satisfied for any reason within that time you may return the product for full credit with no restocking charge. Of course, this is in addition to our "Built To Last" warranty."

We would like you to call an Application Engineer at 800-903-9247 before returning a product so they may work with you to try to solve your problem and make your application successful.

  • How can I tell what Spray Nozzle I have?

The liquid cap and the air cap are both stamped with part identification.

Contact an Application Engineer and with the combination of the two part identification numbers, they will be able to tell you the nozzle you have.

  • Can I convey powder with a Line Vac?

Yes, Line Vacs can convey powder. The discharge end of the Line Vac then has the potential to be very dusty. You need to separate the bulk powder from the air moving the powder. This is normally accomplished with a filter or centrifugal separator on the containment vessel at the discharge end of the Line Vac.

  • How can EXAIR’s Ultrasonic Leak Detector help?

EXAIR's Ultrasonic Leak Detector is an important tool in any compressed air optimization program. The Ultrasonic Leak Detector can find compressed air leaks in your system which can be repaired. Repaired leaks can increase compressor output up to 30%.

  • What is the vertical lift that your Reversible Drum Vac can produce?

The Reversible Drum Vac can produce approximately 9 feet of vertical lift at 80 PSIG inlet pressure. Our High Lift Reversible Drum Vac can produce approximately 15 feet of vertical lift at 80 PSIG inlet pressure.

  • Will the Super Air Nozzles fit on air guns that we already have in house?

Generally, yes. However, many typical air guns have an internal restriction that limits the output pressure of the gun to less than 30 PSIG in order to comply with OSHA dead-end pressure requirements. These air guns will not work properly with EXAIR Super Air Nozzles. EXAIR Super Air Nozzles meet OSHA dead-end pressure requirements, therefore eliminating the need for a pressure restriction in the air gun itself. EXAIR Safety Air Guns are designed for optimum performance with EXAIR Super Air Nozzles.

  • Is the Super Air Wipe available in materials other than aluminum?

Yes, the Super Air Wipe is available in stainless steel. For other materials, contact an Application Engineer to discuss your specific requirements.

  • How many amps does your power supply draw?

    Models 7960 & 7961 - In 115 VAC mode consume 0.2 Amps, in 230 VAC mode consume 0.1 Amps.
    Models 7901 & 7940 (115 VAC) consume 0.2 Amps.
    Models 7907 & 7941 (230 VAC) consume 0.1 Amps.

  • Can I use a Stay Set Hose on a Safety Air Gun?

Yes, Stay Set Hoses can be used on Soft Grip Safety Air Guns with 1/4" or 1/8" NPT Super Air Nozzles attached.
