Cable Braider Uses Super Air Knives to Contain Oil from Braiding Machine
An umbilical/integrated cable manufacturer of undersea tethers for offshore equipment uses a braiding machine to create the tethers. The braiding machine features 24 bobbin carriers. These carriers heat up the oil inside the track as the machine runs. As the oil heats, it becomes thin and drips on the material. To contain the dripping oil, the cable manufacturer installed a Model 110006 6" (152mm) Aluminum Super Air Knife inside, and a Model 110012 12" (305mm) Aluminum Super Air Knife outside the carrier track to blow off the oil from the carrier. This not only keeps the tethers - and the area - clean, but also allows them to retain the oil, reducing waste and make-up costs.
