Cold Gun Reduces Cooling Time for Shrink Fit Gears
Customer makes small precision gears and spindles. The gears are heated to expand before they are pressed on to the spindle shaft. When cooled, the gear contracts and creates a press fit. To reduce cooling time and improve production, they installed a Model 5215 Cold Gun Aircoolant System to blow refrigerated air onto the parts. Cooling time went from minutes to seconds, and production efficiency was greatly increased.
