Drying Tomatoes Before Packaging
Customer is a harvester and packager of bulk and wholesale tomatoes. They needed a way to dry the washed and rinsed tomatoes before they are packaged, to preserve freshness. A Model 110260SS 60" (1524mm) Stainless Steel Super Air Knife Kit provided an even curtain of airflow across the entire width of the conveyor, to ensure drying of each tomato. The pressure regulator included in the kit allowed the pressure to be dialed down to just the right level to provide sufficient drying of the tomatoes without damaging the sensitive skin. This resulted in fewer packages being discarded due to trapped water inside the packaging causing the tomatoes to become mushy.
