PEEK Material Nozzle Prevents Scratching on Sensitive Surface
This university observatory has a housekeeping issue with the large mirror used on their telescope. The telescope mirror must be kept very clean and is routinely maintained for cleanliness. They rinse the mirror with water and need to blow the water off of the mirror without leaving any droplets which will leave a water stain. They do not want to physically touch the mirror as it is a glass lens with a very thin coating of mirror finish which will scratch easily. They have chosen an EXAIR Model 1340-PEEK-72 special Heavy Duty Safety Air Gun which has PEEK plastic nozzles to protect the mirror if they do contact the surface. It also has a long 72" extension to allow for maximum reach across the large diameter of the lens.
