Super Air Knives Replace Drilled Pipes In Automated Blow Off Station
This customer manufactures rings that are 5/8" thick, 3-1/2" OD, 2-1/2" ID, with a series of holes in the face to reduce weight. Surface finish and cleanliness is critical - their quality inspection will reject any part with a water spot. They had a robotic system that would pass the piece through two drilled pipe blow offs, but this was problematic. They also tried having an operator manually blow off each piece individually, but this was time and labor intensive. In order to better automate the process, they installed two Model 110006 6" (152mm) Super Air Knives. They were then able to successfully remove the moisture in one pass, allowing them to return to the use of their robotic system.
