Taking the Static Out of Plastic
This customer has a centrifugal dryer system for granulated plastic with which they have a problem of fines material clumping up and clogging in the output chute. Four pieces of Model 8199 Ionizing Points were installed along with a couple of power supplies to be mounted into the output chute of the granulator/dryer machine. There is a counter-flow airflow moving up into the output that carries ions up and into the chute to provide for reduction of the static charge. This keeps the fines from moving along down the chute with the rest of the product. The ionization provided by the ion points keep this build-up from happening to eliminate periodic clearing of the output as well as allowing for more consistent distribution of the fines into the output stream of product.
