Customer manufactures brake rotors. After the grinding operation, the part needs to be cooled so that the operators can handle them. Also to obtain accurate dimensional readings, they have to let the part set an additional amount of time until the temperature stabilizes. The use of coolant was not an option because it would necessitate a secondary cleaning operation and it affects the LaserMike system that they wanted to install. Using a Model 120021 1 1/4" (32mm) Super Air Amplifier to blow cooling air onto the part and grinding wheel, heat was abated as well as blowing the grinding dust off the part. With the issues of heat and dirt resolved, they were able to fully automate the process with LaserMikes.
Using a small amount of compressed air as their power source, Super Air Amplifiers pull in large volumes of surrounding air to produce high volume, high velocity outlet flows to circulate air, move smoke, fumes and light materials. Also effective to cool, clean and dry parts or processes.
High Temperature Air Amplifiers are rated to 700°F (374°C), ideal for moving hot air for uniform heating in ovens or furnaces as well as for exhausters or for sampling flue gases. Kits include a High Temperature Air Amplifier, shim set, filter separator, pressure regulator (with coupler) and an EFC Electronic Flow Control.
