Cooling Battery Charger
Company manufactures satellites. Before launching they need to charge the batteries because they cannot charge them on the launch pad. The batteries overheat and there is no room to install conventional cooling. So they have to charge the batteries while the satellite is off the pad. This does not ensure a full charge at take off because the electronics are active. The longer it sits on the pad waiting for launch the less charge it has left for space deployment. The Model 3230 Vortex Tube provided a compact refrigeration system that enabled them to keep a battery charger operating on the launch pad prior to deployment.
