Vortex Tubes Quickly Cool a Platen
Company manufactures protective coatings for inside and outside of oil and gas pipe. A platen is heated to create a thermal bond on a shrink wrap that is place around oil and gas pipe. These platens need to be cooled before being removed from the shrink wrap or the wrap will stick to the platens and destroy the finished product. The platens used to cool naturally and this company wanted to increase cycle times to increase production. They chose the Model 3240 Vortex Tube to provide cold air to travel through platen channels that were drilled. The channels are 3/8" diameter with a total travel path through the platen of 34". The Vortex Tubes decreased cooling time and increased production.
