Can I connect the output of a Vortex Tube to an Air Amplifier?

No, for proper operation, the Vortex Tube cold outlet should not be subjected to any restrictions that would produce backpressure in excess of 5 PSIG. An Air Amplifier would restrict the flow of a Vortex Tube to the point where the backpressure is excessive and severely limit the cooling capacity of the Vortex Tube.

Can I connect the output of a Vortex Tube to an Air Knife?

No, for proper operation, the Vortex Tube cold outlet should not be subjected to any restrictions that would produce backpressure in excess of 5 PSIG. An Air Knife would restrict the flow of a Vortex Tube to the point where the backpressure is excessive and severely limit the cooling capacity of the Vortex Tube. The design of the air knife is to entrain large amounts of ambient air and add it to the airstream reaching your parts. The dilution of 1 part of cold air mixed with 30-40 parts of ambient temperature air will result in air temperatures reaching your part to be not much different than ambient temperature.

Can I connect the USB Data Logger to the Summing Remote Display?

No, there are no connections on the Summing Remote Display, the USB Data Logger must be directly connected to the Digital Flowmeter.

Can I convey liquid with a Line Vac?

No, the Line Vac is not made for conveying liquids. The Line Vac will vacuum up some liquid, but not in a solid column of liquid. The liquid will mix with air and produce an output flow of atomized liquid that will spray out the end of the conveying tube.

Can I convey powder with a Line Vac?

Yes, Line Vacs can convey powder. The discharge end of the Line Vac then has the potential to be very dusty. You need to separate the bulk powder from the air moving the powder. This is normally accomplished with a filter or centrifugal separator on the containment vessel at the discharge end of the Line Vac.

Can I cut an air knife to length in the field?

No, field modification is not possible due to the internal machining of an Air Knife. Cutting the Air Knife would expose the internal plenum with no practical means of resealing it. Air Knives may be ordered in any custom length.

Can I duct the ionized air from your static eliminators?

EXAIR Corporation does not recommend ducting its ionization products due to the air turbulence created by the ducting and the recombination of the ions. Ducted EXAIR ionizers have been successful in applications where diminished performance was acceptable.

Can I increase my air pressure with an Air Amplifier?

No. Air Amplifiers amplify volume, not pressure. Air Amplifiers use small volumes of compressed air to produce high volume outlet flows with low outlet pressures (well below 1 PSIG). If low pressure is a problem, it is best to evaluate the compressed air system. Restrictive fittings, undersized lines, clogged lines or a maxed out compressor may be the problem.

Can I make the Digital Flowmeter portable?

The Digital Flowmeter could be mounted to a section of pipe with couplings that would allow it to be relocated to any area you wish to test (keeping in mind the restrictions in the next paragraph).

The Digital Flowmeter must be mounted to a length of pipe that has at least thirty diameters of straight pipe up stream and five diameters downstream.  (Example: 30 diameters for a 1" Schedule 40 pipe = 30 x 1" = 30" of straight pipe.)
Avoid installing the Digital Flowmeter downstream of any item that could distort or concentrate the flow, such as a partially-closed valve, a regulator, a filter, or moisture separator, two closely-spaced elbows in different planes, a long-radius elbow, an increase in pipe size, or a curved hose.  For these situations, allow at least 50 diameters of straight pipe between any such item and the meter.  Select a location that meets these requirements and also provides good visibility from the plant floor.
